September 21...

Six Months, are you kidding me?

Yep, it has come (and gone!). Petrea is six months old. Before you know it, she will be asking for the car keys and I will have to sit on the front porch oiling my shotgun when the boys come calling... She is actually 27 weeks, but we like the 6 month thing. It is just easier. So, here is the six month, look-how-big-I-am-getting picture with the bear!   So chic.

Other news, she still has her teeth. I know I said I wouldn't pry her little mouth open but we have tried and tried to get proof and she just won't cooperate - soooo...

We got some more pictures of her in her christening gown. Gran is getting all that stuff shadowboxed so we had to get some last minute shots in the rocking chair. I think the chair belonged to Petrea's Great-Grandmother Peterson when she had Gigi and Aunt Gwynn - but if not, I am sure someone will correct me soon enough!

 

We spent Sunday afternoon, maybe two Sundays ago, out in the backyard. It was a B-E-A-youtiful day and I think Petrea had a great time - I know Autumn and I did! So, we got some pictures and I feel obliged to post them now!

             

Usually, we try to give her a bath in the evening and sit down and read something to her. Petrea has really started sitting on her own. You have to pull her up, but once you get her there, she will stay for a while. She likes to read, too! Here are the bathtub and reading pictures. She has also taken to the washrag and likes to wash herself. It is hilarious!

   

Oh, and she loves her LeapFrog saucer. I have to let you in on that one - if you can get one of these saucers it is awesome! It has a musical theme to it, with a disco ball, a "keyboard", a microphone and a record player where she can mix her favorite jams and "scratch" her own tunes! She plays and plays - which means that I will be in for some batteries for it - hey LeapFrog, maybe make it re-chargeable?

In other news, Petrea and Nealy have started getting to hang out more. We all went to eat Japanese food the other night and Petrea's godparents, Joe and Shirley, had their hands full!

And, as usual, one for the road. Petrea isn't crawling yet, but she has the position down!

Big week...

It has been a large week for Ms. Petrea... The first news to report on is big stuff. I can't believe it, but our little girl has TWO teeth that have broken through the gums of her bottom row of teeth! TWO! It is the two front teeth. We knew they were coming - I mean, she was showing all the signs, but just thought it would come later. Now, as much as you think I would, I am not going to pry her little mouth open and get pictures of her "teeth" for you to see. I will wait until they are more public and post some pics then. But she is in good spirits about it!

Let's see. Thursday she had squash soup and water for the first time. Not together, really. She hasn't been a big fan of water, but Gigi played the straw game with her and she drank a bunch of it. Friday morning was sort of D-Day. Petrea had her first big fall. It was a nice size fall for her first one, but she came out of it like a champ. Her one little knee is just the slightest bit bruised - other than that, I don't even think she remembers it! Hmmm, also on Friday, there was juice for the first time. I think they told me it was banana and strawberry. She liked it a lot. We also got her one of those little net bags that you put fruit in then put it in the freezer then she eats on the frozen food through the net thing... It is supposed to help with teething, too. Anyway, she had a frozen strawberry Friday morning and loved it. Didn't really get it all over the place - which I am sure will change soon.

She had her first "pony" ride and Cash had his first "rider." He didn't like this game very much and played most of it on his belly. Petrea liked it, though.

Other than that, it is the usual zoo at the Chastain house. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Noche de Carnevale!

It was a festive night at FedEx Arena... Monday night, Grizzlies vs. the Wizards (btw, the Griz won 108-98) was Latino Memphis night. And, since Autumn is on the board of Latino Memphis, we went to celebrate! Luckily, Aunt B - some know her as Autumn's sister Joslin - got her a beautiful dress while she was in Panama getting married over the holidays. Petrea looked like she belonged down on the halftime court with her salsa shoes on!

 

Papi and Gigi cam up for a few days. They got here yesterday, Tuesday, and I think they are staying through the weekend. Talk about some good times. To make things even better, they brought up "The Chair."

It was Autumn's when she was a baby. Go ahead, ask her how many years ago that was... HA!

After we ate dinner last night, we got back and Tre was pretty playful. She had a great time with Papi and Gigi and the duck. This duck has the most infectious little laugh you have ever heard and Tre is starting to get that it is laughing. Hopefully she won't grow up thinking ducks laugh instead of quacking!

She is getting pretty generous with her kisses. I will take them anytime!
